Brief History of the Department

Establishment

Establishment : June, 1983

Department is having well equipped laboratory attached with computer laboratory. The ICT facility like LCD projector and internet is available to the students. Department is having a library with 123 books containing text books and reference books. Most of the books were denoted by alumni of the department. Retired Prof S B Gadre of Rajaram College, Kolhapur has denoted 51 books in statistics from his personal library. These books are having free access to all the students and faculty of the department.

To strengthen the statistical applications in different disciplines by implementing efficient and effective statistical tools.

Upgrading the statistical advanced methodologies in data collection and data analysis through computer applications.

Objectives


• To disseminate the knowledge of statistics to the students at undergraduate level.
• To provide intense introduction to fundamental concepts in statistics for the syllabus prescribed by Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
• To provide essential computer education to use statistical tools in emerging technologies.
• To provide academic facilities to the students aspiring career in statistics and information technology.
• To provide proper guidance for appearing PG and ISI entrance examinations, as well as to prepare them for MPSC and UPSC examinations in statistics.
• To train the students to understand significance of statistical concepts to apply in real life situations.

• Miss Prajakta Sanjay Patil got 2nd rank in Oral Quiz Competition organized by SUSTA.
• B.Sc. III students participated in New Horizon Poster Presentation Competition organized by BCS department. Mr. Adinath Patil and his
        group got 3rd Prize.
