The Department of Statistics, established in 1983, offers a specialized B.Sc. program in Statistics. Our commitment to a comprehensive curriculum is geared towards developing students who can adeptly address real-world challenges and make informed, data-driven decisions.
To facilitate effective learning, our faculty employs a diverse range of globally accepted teaching methods, including project-based learning alongside traditional chalk-and-talk approaches. This dynamic approach enhances students' active learning abilities and refines their soft skills.
Our well-equipped computer labs provide students with the opportunity to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Additionally, our spacious departmental library, generously stocked with 200 books donated by alumni, including 51 from the personal library of Retired Prof S. B. Gadre of Rajaram College, Kolhapur, offers free access to all students and faculty.
We prioritize the holistic development of our students through activities such as poster presentations, statistical quizzes, workshops, and guest lectures.
A testament to our commitment to collaboration is our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SEARCH NGO, led by Dr. Abhay Bang, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement for impactful research and outreach initiatives.
Our alumni have successfully ventured into both government and private sectors, securing positions in prestigious organizations such as Indian Statistical Services, Civil Services, Tata Consultancy Services, Capgemini, Accenture, and more. The department's goal is to produce highly skilled graduates proficient in various statistical methods applicable across domains such as finance, clinical, and industrial sectors.
